Donal has run for the Alzheimer’s Society

Hi!

Just a quick update now that the “race” has been run.

It was fabulous weather, and just me and 25,999 other runners! My goal was to run the 10 miles in 89 minutes and 59 seconds, something I’d never managed in an organised 10-mile race. In the end, I crossed the line in 1 hour, 28 minutes and 42 seconds — beating my target by 1 minute and 17 seconds!

The fastest male runner completed the course in 47 minutes and 26 seconds (wanker), while the fastest woman finished in 53 minutes and 34 seconds.

I’m delighted with my time. Not bad for an ageing, balding git!

In total, the 26,000 runners raised £4 million for the various associated charities, which is amazing. It’s also amazing that I’m still awake and sitting at my computer, as I can barely feel my legs or feet!!!

Statue Moment

No Guinness at mile 9! An unreliable source told me that the elite women had drunk it all!!!

We’ve raised £4,127 for the Alzheimer’s Society, and I am truly overwhelmed by everyone’s generosity and support.

I really can’t thank you all enough for believing in me (or not!), but more importantly, for supporting this cause. It means a great deal to me.

THANK YOU ALL!

Donal

PS I’ve just checked, and we’ve now raised £4,127 for the Alzheimer’s Society. We’re second on the list of top fundraisers for the Alzheimer’s Society at the AJ Bell Great South Run ! Amazing — thank you all so very much.
